Wind and Alpacas

Well yesterday was an interesting experience. Started off with taking Syndey and Destina over to Zia Ranch in Tularosa to have them bred. That was part of the deal made when we bought them. When I arrived in Tularosa it was like the attack of the killer tumbleweeds. The things were scooting across the ground from a couple empty pastures at a great rate of speed. Had to make two trips with the weeds before I could knock on the door. We unloaded the girls with no problems and the boys were VERY happy to see them. So waved goodbye for now and went up to Ruidoso to spend a very relaxing weekend at a cabin.

Then got a call from Pat saying an empty 3000 gallon tank we have just went by the dining room window and was now in the wheat field east of the house. I said is it moving, she said looks like it it is now on the other side of the section... I said can you go see where abouts it is. She called back in a bit and said it was 1/4 mile from the Lovington Highway now standing upright. She went and got ropes and tied it to a cedar post on the north side of Rural Road 20. The thing had gone 3 miles in less than 30 minutes, clearing two fences and then righting itself on a road. Oh yea she also said the roof to the loading shed was off and part of it was in a neighbors pasture.

Needless to say me and my faithful companion Kelly got in the pickup and went home. Wind quit around sundown. Loaded up the tank and took it home.

Today if the cleanup and start of rebuild. Note to self do not leave an empty tank sitting in the wind...
