Wild Rabbits Dying

3.14.23 I saw the dogs had 2 jackrabbits. I was amazed because they never catch a big one. Then I saw 2 dead jackrabbits in the pasture while walking the goats. Then back at the house I found 2 dead cottontails.

Looking on the internet found out that it is probably a rabbit hemorrhagic virus that was introduced to North America in Canada in 1980.

It was detected in Las Cruces in 2020.

It is not transmitted to other animals, but predators tend to thin out from this.

There is no vaccine, Just have to watch it go through and run its course.
